Lake Temenggor of Royal Belum State Park

Have you been to the Royal Belum State Park, Gerik, Perak?

I was at Lake Temenggor, Royal Belum State Park in late September last year, my second time visiting this place. Unlike my first visit, the water level was visibly low as the reservoir operator prepared the dam for the unpredictable volume of rain. The water from Lake Temenggor Dam was released to its lowest point in anticipation of the high volume of rainwater from the upcoming monsoon season.

The lake is man-made and constructed along the Perak River. The structure of the Temenggor Dam was completed in 1974. It stretches over 15,200 hectares, submerging valleys, hills and dense rainforest to create the reservoir.

When the water level is low, the old tree trunks from the previous forest landscape are visible, creating a different kind of character to the scenery of the lake. We parked our boathouse in front of Kampung Kelewang, one of the old villages of the Indigenous people of the Jahai tribe.

It rained cats and dogs the whole morning. I noticed a small red boat parked at a mini island in front of the village. I saw a head and a tiny foot peeking out of the water. The villagers were collecting freshwater clams from the shallow lake.

A calm scene amid the morning rain.

Using my 70-200mm lens, I captured moments of the fishermen of Kelewang Village at Temenggor Lake while they were in and out of the water. Three (3) digital images of the moments at the lake are available for sale now. Please click on the image to proceed with your purchase. The money from the sales will proceed into my travelling account.

Yes, I can print out the images according to your preferences. Please contact me directly ya.

We travelled in a small group of ten (10) via a boathouse to explore the famous Royal Belum State Park’s nooks and crannies. Yep! It is a bit expensive for a 3D 2N as we have to share the RM8k cost of the boathouse (RM800 each for 10 of us) but I like it. Fewer people, less crowded and less nuisance.

It is about exploring nature at the Royal Belum State Park, Gerik, Perak. Sharing some activities that we did during our stay at the lake.

Will share more. Thank you for reading.

Cheers
