Hiking 1.0

Being a Doer and not a Talker, I gathered 10 friends and family for a 5D 4N hiking trip to 3 different hills and 1 mountain in Perak, Perlis and Kedah. Do you still remember my ranting about my trip last year (in 2023) to Mong Gajah in Tasik Pedu, Kedah?

While I was enjoying my morning light at Mong Gajah, I saw a glimpse of the highest peak of Gunung Fakir Terbang (574 m) located in Tasik Pedu Kedah, hiding behind the thick morning mist. It is a part of the Trans Singgora (Banjaran Kedah Singgora), located at the border of Malaysia and Thailand. Hiking Bukit Saga in Cheras

Expect lots of uphill steps along the trek and please use any hiking app on your phone to guide your way deeper into the jungle as the routes were not properly marked.

I use my Kommot app to guide my way along the trek.

Why do people hike

I am not a mountain trekker.

Yes, I did a ‘day hike’ around Malaysia but I never try mountain trekking. The thought of having to endure pains and aches along the journey to the peak scares me. Why do I want to do that to my beloved self, my inner self voice talked me out each time.

Mardi Himal trek

I decided to step out of my comfort zone and try something different.

When a good friend of mine suggested a new hiking trip to Mardi Himal, Nepal, I was skeptical. My body is not fit enough for long days of mountain trekking. My excuse is consistently the same, it’s not my kinda game. He shared with me a few beautiful photos of the Mardi Himal landscape, I googled more information about the place and later said yes to the trip.
