Hiking Bukit Berekeh

The aerial view from the peak of Bukit Berekeh during sunrise is grand.

Bring your drone and enjoy the 360-degree view of five (5) hills lined up and surrounded by thick morning clouds aka ‘awan karpet’. The track is not that hard. Based on my ‘relaxing’ hiking experience, the trail should fit for beginner and moderate hikers. The challenge is not the trail but the effort you need to gather and pursue hiking as early as 3 to 4 am, as you need to reach the peak of Bukit Berekeh before the first glimpse of the morning light appears on the horizon.

Hiking 1.0

Being a Doer and not a Talker, I gathered 10 friends and family for a 5D 4N hiking trip to 3 different hills and 1 mountain in Perak, Perlis and Kedah. Do you still remember my ranting about my trip last year (in 2023) to Mong Gajah in Tasik Pedu, Kedah?

Click >> here to read about my first time in >> Mong Gajah.

While I was enjoying my morning light at Mong Gajah, I saw a glimpse of the highest peak of Gunung Fakir Terbang (574 m) located in Tasik Pedu Kedah, hiding behind the thick morning mist. It is a part of the Trans Singgora (Banjaran Kedah Singgora), located at the border of Malaysia and Thailand. Amir, the owner of Tasik Pedu SeriMahawangsa boathouse used to share old folk stories about Tasik Pedu and its surroundings including Gunung Fakir Terbang, relating to the history of the Singgora Sultanate era.

Be a Bit CRAZY

Life lesson 02 While Paramotoring:

It is Okay to Be a Bit CRAZY

Q1 2014: After a few months of training to control my paramotor wing and engine, I successfully took off a few solo paramotor flights. A rewarding experience, at least I know that I can do this. The training process was messy but the experience was insanely awesome. Both my big toenails fell off due to the shoe pressure while practising the ground training to balance my paramotor wing. My radio died on air and I had to land on my own without the radio guidance of my paramotor instructor, on my first solo takeoff.

And a lot more unusual incidents along my 7 years of paramotoring.

Targeting The Grand View

Life Lesson 01 While Paramotoring:

The Hassle for The Grand View

As I pushed aside the struggles and the annoyances I had experienced while doing my best to fit in with the team, I realized that the GRAND view from my Paramotor front seat was worth the hassle. Despite all the negative talk behind my back, the joy of witnessing the best landscape view during sunsets and sunrises overruled the obstacle. A priceless experience and I am glad that I stubbornly decided to stick around.

The mistakes, the nuisance and the inconvenience mature me.

Mong Gajah, Tasik Pedu

I have explored the area around Tasik Pedu for more than enough, and yet this is my first time visiting Mong Gajah, another beautiful part of Tasik Pedu.

Mong Gajah is a place with a gorgeous view of nature. If you prefer sleeping at night, wrapped in total darkness while watching thousands of stars (with no light pollution) and waking up facing the waterfront of Pedu Lake, with gorgeous sunset coming out from the mountain range of Banjaran Kedah-Singgora then you would absolutely love this camping spot.
